Fullstop. The end.

Yesterday was Hubby's and my last day at our respective offices. We're still coming down from the crazy highs of the final farewells. Part hangover, part wallowing in the self pity of knowing you'll miss good friends, part a simple need to recover after way too intense a working year.

Now we'll spend a couple of days recovering, slowly going over the events of the past few days and weeks, getting back our energy for what's to come. A couple of weeks doing the mountain walks of New Zealand's South Island, then back here to sell up and pack for Canberra. There will be some amazing scenery in NZ so I'll endeavour to bring back some half decent photos and post them over the next couple of weeks.

Lucky me

I just bought this beautiful little print from the very talented Belle and Boo from her Etsy shop. Have a look at her blog too - gorgeous drawings and other bits and bobs for children. Now I just have to wait for the postman...

APEC excitement

Buses have been fitted out with steel in place of glass, ready for the protestors:

Cars on my street are getting the once over with sniffer dogs - you can't see the dog here as he's been put in the boot for a good whiff. The dogs are little black labrador/beagle crosses by the look of them - adorable in their little police vests:

Buses are backed up for miles trying to get into the city. This line goes well back to the other end of the bridge:

Rubbish bins have been taped up with plastic and police tape:

And in the event of super dire emergency like a great bombing from above, they've set up some nice air raid warning sirens and speakers in martin place:

Run for your lives, Bush is here.

More finished objects

It's another birthday here for yet another fabulous friend, so a suitably fabulous present was needed. Here's my take on the cocktail apron (modelled here on hubby, so looking much more masculine than it does on its recipient):

My fave thing is the bead detailing at the neck - a little martini glass, then the olive with toothpick, and finally the naked olive on its lonesome:

It's also reversible:

Look out Sydney

It's drunken knit-tagging time again! The folks from Stitch and Bitch and I have been planning to have a few drinks and b0mb Martin Place with knit-tags to celebrate my imminent departure. I'm thinking "I heart Sydney" might be the appropriate label to have hanging off the tags. I've got some crappy bits of leftovers and some nasty fluff I found for 99c a ball at Spotlight and am cobbling them up on big fat needles (you don't wanna waste time on this stuff - it's only going to get rained on). So I'm inviting anyone who wants to take part in a little bit of clandestine activity. Knit something if you can, but if you can't just come along and help put it up. Date to be advised, but it will be after APEC!
